Diabetes Symptoms
What are the Symptoms of Diabetes?

Some common symptoms of diabetes

  • Diabetes often has no symptoms, but when they occur, these are common ones:
    • Blurry vision
    • Frequent urination
    • Fatigue
    • Persistent thirst (sometimes people drink 1-2 gallons a day)
    • Dry mouth
    • Dark rough patch of skin (often on back of neck or in the armpit)
    • Tingling or pain in feet or legs
    • Wounds that do not heal quickly
    • Losing weight without trying
    • Excessively dry skin
    • Frequent or persistent yeast infections
Because diabetes develops gradually, it may take months or years before the symptoms start, but the damage may still be happening, if the diabetes is not diagnosed and treated.

For Native people it is important to get checked for diabetes regularly - at least once a year.
