Computer Management Specialist

    Native American Cancer Research (NACR) announces the availability of a Computer Management position with a focus in web management. NACR provides services to cancer survivors and their family and friends. Applicant will need to have good interpersonal skills and patience. An interest or background in Public Health, program evaluation or American Indian culture a bonus. Bi-lingual a plus.

    The successful candidate will be expected to create web based data systems and adapt web based systems to improve user friendliness and expand capacity for data collection and confidentiality. The job requires maintenance of two small office computer networks, an Audience Response System (ARS) for data collection and a classroom. Must have advanced skills in Microsoft systems and computer software including: SPSS, SAS or other database systems, FileMaker Pro, Survey Monkey or the equivalent, and Endnotes. Willing to provide some training. NACR supports both national and local programs and provides community based training. Position requires providing training and support to build community capacity for data collection, analysis and dissemination of results.

    Programs, tests, debugs, and documents programs on moderately complex projects many which are web based. Contributes to general business planning regarding technology and systems required to maintain and improve operations and data management. Recognizes new developments in information systems technology, and anticipates organizational modifications. Responsible for configuring computers and troubleshooting problems. Establishes long-term needs for information systems, and plans for developing systems and acquiring software/hardware to meet application needs. Ensures confidentiality and reliability of data, proprietary information, and intellectual property. Reports to the Executive Officer in a small, community based organization. Enters and verifies a variety of data in appropriate formats. Tracks and verifies quality of data entry from all sources. Resolves problems regarding the data. Can train inexperienced operators and prioritize assignments. Requires a BS degree and some experience. Preference for MA or higher degree.

    Maintains databases, enters in data for program operations and performs data QA checks. Creates formats for storing web-based confidential data. Experience with SQL servers or large databases used for research a bonus. Develops and provides content for the organization's web site. Performs as editor of the site's content and gathers and researches information. Designs graphics to enhance the look of the site. Responsible for making improvements or enhancements. Maintains and expands web-based video and audio systems that have stories from cancer survivors, those undergoing cancer screening and cultural pride. Expands interactive NACES, tree of life cancer information program. Works with national and local partners to enhance materials distribution and tracking dissemination of programs. Designs and implements internal and external web pages and applications. Converts documents into HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) or other complex programming language. Determines user's needs, strategies, and goals and develops web pages that meet those needs.
